Meta Finally Unveils Its First Frontier Model:
Meta released Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, its first frontier AI models. Wonder is available through the API, while the stronger Full version remains inside Muse Code. Meta’s best model costs extra.
Things to Know:
- Bigger Than Spark: Muse Spark was designed as a lightweight speed model. Wonder is the heavyweight sequel, targeting coding and complicated, multistep agent workflows.
- Scoreboard Check: Independent benchmarker Artificial Analysis scored Wonder Full 56 and Wonder 52. Meta’s own testing claims comparable results to GPT-6 Astra.
- Pick Your Door: Wonder costs $4 per million input tokens, $20 output. Wonder Full bypasses the API completely, remaining subscription-only inside Muse Code.
- No Downloads: Neither Wonder model ships with downloadable weights. That’s a remarkable reversal for the company whose Llama models popularized open weights.
Meta spent years giving its models away, and now its strongest one requires a monthly subscription. That tells you exactly where the frontier competition is heading now. Generosity was apparently a phase.

Character AI Files For Bankruptcy Protection:
Character.AI filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, just five years after its founding. Disney is spending $20 million for some assets, but there’s still no buyer for the platform. Without one, it shuts down.
Things to Know:
- The Rise: Ex-Google engineers Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas founded Character.AI in 2021. Within twelve months, $150 million crowned it a unicorn.
- The Google Exit: A $2.7 billion Google licensing deal in 2024 pulled both founders back. Character.AI abandoned training foundation models to prioritize growth.
- The Legal Storm: Lawsuits followed, including one over a 14-year-old’s suicide, plus a Texas child-safety probe. Character.AI settled some cases and banned minors.
- The Math Problem: Sensor Tower ranked Character.AI among top apps for time spent. Unfortunately, every additional minute chatting also inflated its computing bill.
Character.AI proved millions of people will happily talk to chatbots for hours every day. It never proved anyone would pay enough to cover those conversations. Engagement alone is not a business model.

Anthropic Tests AI Self-Replication Risks:
Anthropic says small AI models may be months away from copying themselves across smart home devices. Its researchers ran one across 15 inexpensive Android TV boxes during testing. No data center required.
Things to Know:
- The Finding: Models up to 30 billion parameters handle many individual replication steps. Chaining everything together, start to finish, still defeats them.
- The Asterisk: With some security barriers removed, GLM-5.2 and stronger models replicated completely. So yes, the researchers deliberately left the door unlocked.
- Why It’s Different: Unlike conventional malware, an AI replicator could adapt to unfamiliar hardware independently. A household swarm also has no single off switch.
- The Good News: Replication would crawl, potentially taking a day or more per generation. Multi-gigabyte transfers would also stand out to internet providers.
For years, cheap smart gadgets in our homes were seen as harmless junk with weak security. Anthropic’s research suggests they could become an AI’s spare compute. Your TV box deserves a firmware update.

The Raven Mage Commands the Storm:
Prompt:

"Anthropomorphic raven mage with sleek black feathers, glowing violet eyes, and a mysterious expression. Enormous wings spread, one clawed wingtip gripping an obsidian staff crowned by a purple crystal, orbited by swirling runes. Silver-embroidered dark robes. Standing on a misty cliff under a stormy twilight sky. Photorealistic 3D render, volumetric lighting, ultra-detailed. Signed with a purple "B." in the bottom right corner."
