Musk's xAI Just Lost Half Its Founders:

Another day, another plot twist in the AI arms race. Elon Musk's xAI just had a rough 48 hours. Two co-founders walked out the door back to back. Jimmy Ba announced his exit Tuesday, one day after Tony Wu said goodbye.

Things to Know:

  • SpaceX Deal Creates Friction: Half of xAI's original 12 co-founders are now gone. The departures follow SpaceX's recent $1.25 trillion acquisition of the AI startup.

  • The Research Brain Drain: Jimmy Ba led critical work on Grok version 4 models. His exit strips xAI of serious academic firepower and deep learning expertise.

  • Regulatory Heat Rising: xAI faces multiple probes across three continents right now. The investigations stem from Grok's deepfake image generation controversies earlier this year.

  • Not Just Co-Founders: Other senior executives have also jumped ship recently, including CFO Mike Liberatore. He left for OpenAI, which probably stung a bit.

Ba thanked Musk but noted it's time to "recalibrate" priorities for what's ahead. He called 2026 the "most consequential year for our species." That's either visionary or a dramatic exit line.

ChatGPT Research Gets a Much Needed Facelift:

OpenAI just made Deep Research feel less like a chat log and more like a polished report. ChatGPT now opens findings in a dedicated fullscreen viewer. It is cleaner, smarter, and far easier to navigate.

Things to Know:

  • A Proper Report Experience: Reports now open in a separate fullscreen window instead of sitting inside your chat thread. A table of contents appears on the left, with sources neatly listed on the right.

  • More Control Over Research: You can now tell ChatGPT exactly which websites or connected apps to focus on. You can also adjust the scope or add sources mid generation.

  • Live Progress Tracking: Deep Research no longer feels mysterious while it works in the background. You can watch progress unfold in real time and refine direction instantly.

This update quietly changes how serious research feels inside ChatGPT. It is less scrolling chaos and more structured clarity. If you rely on AI for deep dives, this is a meaningful step forward.

Instagram Builds AI Face Swap to Battle Sora:

Meta isn't sitting idle while OpenAI steals the spotlight. Instagram is reportedly building an AI face swap feature that lets you generate images and videos using your own face. The twist? You can request someone else's likeness too.

Things to Know:

  • Your Face, AI's Canvas: Instagram's upcoming feature lets users create AI content with their own likeness. You'll generate images and videos by writing prompts, possibly sharing them via DMs or Stories.

  • Borrowing Faces Requires Permission: Want to use your friend's face for AI creations? You'll need their approval first. Instagram plans to send invites, and users must accept before anyone can generate content with their likeness.

  • Safety Measures Still Unclear: The permission system aims to prevent misuse of someone's appearance. While OpenAI's Sora lets users ban specific actions and words, Instagram's approach to managing inappropriate content remains unknown.

This feature hasn't been officially confirmed by Meta yet. Tipster Alessandro Paluzzi leaked screenshots showing the tool, which Instagram internally calls "Create my likeness" rather than face swap.

Prompt:

"Vertical abstract oil painting of a graceful silhouetted woman standing on a quiet shoreline, holding a glowing full moon in both hands as the sole light source. Moonlight ripples across the water before her. Subtle highlights define her curves. A serene ocean and softly brushed clouds stretch behind, with textured sand, gentle waves, layered colors, and rich impasto detail creating a calm, contemplative mood."

Dictate prompts and tag files automatically

Stop typing reproductions and start vibing code. Wispr Flow captures your spoken debugging flow and turns it into structured bug reports, acceptance tests, and PR descriptions. Say a file name or variable out loud and Flow preserves it exactly, tags the correct file, and keeps inline code readable. Use voice to create Cursor and Warp prompts, call out a variable like user_id, and get copy you can paste straight into an issue or PR. The result is faster triage and fewer context gaps between engineers and QA. Learn how developers use voice-first workflows in our Vibe Coding article at wisprflow.ai. Try Wispr Flow for engineers.
