Why Sora Really Got the Axe From OpenAI:
OpenAI shut down Sora, and everyone had a theory. Data grab, secret pivot, corporate drama. The real story is way less exciting. It just cost too much and barely anyone used it.
Things to Know:
Bleeding Money Daily: Sora peaked at around one million users, then dropped below 500,000. Meanwhile, it was burning through $1 million per day just to keep the lights on.
Too Expensive to Ignore: Video generation is brutally costly to run. Every user dropping themselves into a fantastical AI scene was quietly draining OpenAI's GPU supply.
Claude Ate Their Lunch: While OpenAI kept Sora on life support, Anthropic was winning software engineers and enterprises. Claude Code, specifically, was pulling customers right out from under them.
Disney Got the Worst Call: Disney had committed $1 billion to a Sora partnership. According to the WSJ, they found out Sora was shutting down less than an hour before the public announcement.

Siri to Turn into a Gateway for Every AI Chatbot:
Apple is done pretending Siri can compete alone. iOS 27 is bringing an Extensions feature that lets third-party AI chatbots plug directly into Siri. Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT are all invited to the party.
Things to Know:
Extensions Explained: Users with Gemini or Claude installed will be able to send queries to those services straight from inside Siri, just like ChatGPT works today.
A Whole AI Marketplace: The App Store will get a dedicated Extensions section, acting as a marketplace for third-party AI integrations, per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Siri Gets a Real App: The new standalone Siri app will support both text and voice input and give users access to past conversations, similar to ChatGPT or Gemini.
Apple's Actual Play Here: By routing users to external AI tools, Apple collects its standard App Store commission without funding the cost of training frontier models itself.
Apple is not building the best AI. It is building the best place to access all of them. The developer beta lands in June, with a full rollout expected in September. Whether this fixes Siri's reputation is a whole other conversation.
Salesforce Made Voice AI Way Faster:
Voice AI has a timing problem. If a response takes longer than 200 milliseconds, the conversation feels off. Salesforce just released an open-source tool called VoiceAgentRAG that cuts retrieval time from 110ms down to 0.35ms.

Two Agents, One Goal: VoiceAgentRAG runs two agents at once. A Fast Talker handles live queries, while a Slow Thinker quietly pre-fetches answers the user has not asked yet.
The Cache Does the Heavy Lifting: The system stores results in a local memory cache. When a query matches something already cached, the lookup takes under half a millisecond instead of a full network round trip.
The Numbers Back It Up: Across 200 test queries, the system hit a 75% cache hit rate. In focused conversations about one topic, that number jumped to 95%.
Works With Your Existing Stack: VoiceAgentRAG supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Ollama out of the box. It also connects to Whisper for speech-to-text and FAISS or Qdrant for vector storage.
