Saudi AI company Humain just dropped its Arabic-first chatbot called Humain Chat. This isn't just another translation tool.

Humain Chat is trained on one of the largest Arabic datasets ever assembled. It supports multiple dialects, including Egyptian and Lebanese.

Saudi AI Firm Launches World’s First Halal Chatbot:

Saudi Arabia’s Humain has launched Humain Chat, its Arabic-native AI chatbot running the Allam model. It speaks both Arabic and English and understands Islamic culture deeply. The app starts in Saudi Arabia with expansion plans ahead.

Things to Know:

  • Development & Roots: Humain Chat is based on the Allam large language model, trained on one of the largest Arabic datasets ever assembled. It’s designed from the ground up to be culturally aware.

  • Language & Culture: The bot supports Arabic–English bilingual conversation, including dialects like Egyptian and Lebanese. It also reflects Islamic culture and values.

  • Launch & Reach: Initially available via web and mobile in Saudi Arabia, Humain Chat aims to roll out across the Middle East—and globally. The goal is to reach almost 500 million Arabic speakers worldwide.

The app is powered by Allam 34B, built on over eight petabytes of Arabic data and developed by a diverse team, half of whom are women. Humain is also building its infrastructure—with partnerships from AWS, Nvidia, and Qualcomm.

NotebookLM Expands Its Global Reach Dramatically:

Google has made NotebookLM’s Video Overviews feature more globally accessible. The update adds support for 80 languages, plus enhanced Audio Overviews. It gives non-English speakers richer video and audio summaries for their learning.

Things to Know:

  • Global Language Expansion: NotebookLM now supports Video Overviews in 80 languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Japanese. This opens access for learners worldwide.

  • Enhanced Audio Summaries: Audio Overviews, previously limited and brief in non-English, are now detailed and full-length in over 80 languages. Users still have the option for shorter highlights.

  • Built on Recent Launch: Video Overviews were introduced just last month as a way to turn notes, PDFs, and images into video presentations. This update builds on that launch.

These changes make NotebookLM a stronger tool for global learners. All updates are available starting today and will roll out globally over the next week. Google aims to make AI learning tools universally accessible.

YouTube Tests AI-Powered Shorts Enhancement:

Some YouTubers say their Shorts are being altered without permission. They noticed smoother skin and sharper visuals after upload. YouTube admits running a machine learning experiment but denies using generative AI or resolution upscaling.

Things to Know:

  • Creator Complaints: Several creators reported that their Shorts looked edited after upload. They claimed no consent was given for these visual changes.

  • YouTube’s Response: YouTube confirmed an experiment using traditional machine learning. The goal, they said, was to unblur, denoise, and improve clarity in videos.

  • Visual Changes Noticed: Creators observed smoother faces, sleeker hair, and wrinkle-free clothing. Some compared it to an “oil painting” effect on their appearance.

Creators worry these undisclosed edits might mislead viewers into thinking they used AI or filters themselves, undermining trust. After all, if the eyes see something off—even subtle—it chips away at credibility.
