Apple is exploring new concepts for its wearable devices, such as smart glasses and AirPods with cameras, according to a report by Bloomberg. These ideas are not yet confirmed products, but they show how Apple is thinking about the future of spatial computing.

  • Smart glasses: Apple is reportedly working on a pair of smart glasses that would use AI to overlay information and graphics on the user’s view of the real world. The glasses would also have eye-tracking and gesture-recognition features and could connect to an iPhone or a smart ring.

  • AirPods with cameras: Another concept that Apple is allegedly experimenting with is adding cameras to its AirPods. These cameras could capture images and videos from the user’s perspective and also enable augmented reality applications.

  • Smart ring: Apple is also said to be developing a smart ring that would act as a controller for the smart glasses and other devices. The ring would have sensors and haptic feedback and could be used to perform actions like scrolling, zooming, or selecting items on the glasses’ display.

Apple is not the only company that is interested in wearable devices that can create spatial computing experiences. Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and others are also working on similar projects.

Apple is known for its innovation and design, and it could potentially create a breakthrough device that would redefine the wearable market.

Google has issued an apology and an explanation for the controversial and inaccurate images generated by its Gemini AI model. Gemini can create images based on text prompts, but some of its results have been criticized for being biased, wrong, or offensive.

  • What went wrong: Gemini’s image generation tool was designed to reflect Google’s global user base and avoid bias or underrepresentation. However, this led to some historical or cultural contexts being ignored or distorted. For example, Gemini produced images of diverse Nazis, non-white popes, and erased white people from some countries.

  • Google’s Response: Google said it was aware of the problem and working to fix it immediately. It also apologized for the “embarrassing and wrong” images and said it took representation and bias seriously.

Gemini’s image generation tool is powered by Google’s Imagen 2, which is not as well-known or established as other AI models such as DALL-E and Midjourney.

This incident shows the challenges and risks of creating AI systems that can generate realistic and diverse images from text. It also raises questions about the ethics and responsibility of AI developers and users.
