OpenAI’s For-Profit Shift Gets Microsoft’s Nod:

OpenAI has reached a non-binding deal with Microsoft to convert its for-profit division into a public benefit corporation. This structure still keeps the nonprofit in control. The change could help OpenAI raise new capital and go public.

Things to Know:

  • Deal Details: OpenAI and Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding to allow OpenAI’s for-profit arm to become a public benefit corporation. The nonprofit would retain operational control and a stake valued at over $100 billion.

  • Investor Dynamics: Microsoft remains OpenAI’s biggest investor and has agreed to give its “blessing” to the transition. OpenAI aims to loosen Microsoft’s exclusive control over cloud services and technology.

  • Regulatory Oversight: State regulators in California and Delaware must clear the transition plan. The agreement is non-binding for now; final legal contracts are still being worked out.

This shift marks a big moment in OpenAI’s evolution, and could change how the company operates forever. OpenAI is clearly making moves to reduce dependency on Microsoft, e.g. a planned contract with Oracle and ties with SoftBank.

Claude AI Remembers Your Conversations Now:

Anthropic now allows Claude to “automatically remember” details from past chats for its Team and Enterprise users. The aim is that Claude will use those memories without needing the user to manually remind it each time.

Things to Know:

  • What It Does: Claude can now store up to 500,000 tokens of information, roughly equivalent to 1,000 pages of text. This helps maintain context for complex work projects with specific boundaries.

  • What’s Stored & Why: The memory includes user preferences, project context, main priorities, and team processes. It’s especially helpful in work settings—like ongoing projects, design work, or client interactions.

  • Controls & Privacy: Memory is fully optional—users can view, edit, or delete what Claude remembers via settings. There’s also an incognito mode where chats won’t be saved or referred to later.

Other AI tools (like those from Google or OpenAI) already offer cross-chat memory features. But some concerns—such as hallucinations—have surfaced when bots misremember or fabricate past details.

AI Images Gone Wrong in Charlie Kirk Case:

The FBI released blurry “person of interest” photos in the Charlie Kirk shooting case. Almost immediately, people online used AI tools to enhance them. These tools aren’t revealing the truth—they're guessing details that weren’t there.

Things to Know:

  • What the FBI Shared: The photos made public are low-resolution surveillance shots of someone linked to the Charlie Kirk shooting. The intention is to help with identifying suspects.

  • AI Upscaling in Action: Users applied AI upscalers to sharpen, clarify, or “enhance” those FBI photos. Some enhancements go wildly off: different shirt styles, exaggerated features like a “Gigachad‐level” jawline.

  • Why It Matters: While aiming to help, these AI enhancements can spread false information or bias. Trustworthy evidence should come from original sources, not artistic or algorithmic “upgrades.”

This case underscores the need for caution with AI in law enforcement. The rush to use AI for quick answers can backfire, especially in high-stakes situations. The FBI’s original photos remain the most trustworthy source for identifying the suspect.

How 433 Investors Unlocked 400X Return Potential

Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? They got a 400X buyout offer from the company, as Revolut’s valuation increased 89,900% in the same timeframe.

Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay backed Pacaso. And you can join them. But not for long. Pacaso’s investment opportunity ends September 18.
