Two Versions, One Goal: DeepSeek released V4-Pro with 1.6 trillion parameters and V4-Flash with 284 billion. Both come with a 1 million-token context window, which is a massive jump from the old 128K limit.
What Actually Got Better: Reasoning, coding, and agentic tasks all got serious upgrades in V4. A new Hybrid Attention Architecture helps the model remember context across much longer conversations.
Running on Chinese Chips: V4 runs on Huawei's Ascend 950 chips, not Nvidia. That is a deliberate move to sidestep US export restrictions and build a fully domestic AI stack.
Both V4 models are open source and available on Hugging Face right now. Developers can download the weights, run them locally, or access them through the DeepSeek API.
