OpenAI Gives ChatGPT a Better 'Memory':

OpenAI said on Tuesday that it was releasing a new version of its ChatGPT that would remember what users said so it could use that information in future chats.

The Details:

  • What is ChatGPT Memory: ChatGPT Memory is a new feature that allows ChatGPT to access an external source of memory for each conversation. It uses Redis, a vector database, to store and retrieve historical user interactions.

  • How does it work: ChatGPT Memory uses an adaptive prompt creation mechanism to select the most relevant information from the memory based on the current context. It then feeds this information to the ChatGPT model as a prompt, along with the user’s query.

  • The benefits of ChatGPT Memory: ChatGPT Memory can improve the user experience and satisfaction with ChatGPT. It can also reduce the cost, latency, and model reliability issues that arise from sending and receiving large amounts of text to and from the ChatGPT API.

ChatGPT Memory is a promising innovation that enhances the capabilities of ChatGPT and other large language models. It demonstrates how external memory can boost the effective context length and performance of AI chatbots.

OpenAI's Eve Humanoids Make Impressive Progress in Autonomous Work:

OpenAI’s Eve humanoids, backed by a significant investment, are making impressive strides in autonomous work, despite their seemingly rudimentary physical design.

The Details:

  • Investment and Impact: OpenAI’s substantial investment in 1X, the Norwegian humanoid robot maker, has accelerated the development of autonomous humanoid robots.

  • Physical Design: Despite lacking dextrous hands and feet, Eve’s rudimentary design is proving sufficient for early use cases, primarily involving picking and placing objects.

  • Autonomy and Learning: The primary challenge lies not in physical design but in enabling these robots to learn tasks quickly and execute them autonomously.

OpenAI’s Eve humanoids are demonstrating that the future of autonomous work may not be as distant as we once thought. Despite their simple design, these robots are performing tasks autonomously, paving the way for a new era of robotics.
