Meta’s Huge $14.3 Billion Investment to Stay Alive:

Meta revealed a $14.3 billion investment to acquire 49 percent of Scale AI and hire its CEO, Alexandr Wang. Wang will spearhead Meta’s new “superintelligence” division aimed at advancing general AI. Scale remains independent with an interim CEO.
Things to Know:
Deal Overview: Meta is acquiring a substantial minority stake in Scale AI, gaining access to its renowned data annotation services and enhancing its AI capabilities.
Leadership Move: Alexandr Wang joins Meta, reporting directly to Mark Zuckerberg, while keeping his seat on Scale's board. Jason Droege is appointed interim CEO of Scale.
Superintelligence Ambitions: Meta intends to build a 50-person “superintelligence” team focused on AGI. The firm aims to bounce back from Llama 4’s lukewarm reception.
Scale AI is crucial in training AI models through human-annotated data, often utilizing low-cost labor outside the US. Meta structured the deal with non‑voting shares to limit antitrust scrutiny, though regulatory attention remains significant.
Apple’s Siri AI Upgrade Delayed to Spring 2026:

Apple’s next-gen Siri, showcased at WWDC 2024, faced delays and now targets a spring 2026 release via iOS 26.4. Internal sources say the upgrade brings a smarter Siri with context and on-screen awareness.
Things to Know:
Delay Details: Apple initially planned to unveil the new Siri alongside the iPhone 16 in fall 2024. That was pushed to early 2025, then March, but quality issues forced a further delay.
Engineering Hurdles: Siri's internal architecture combined old and new models, causing reliability problems—about a third of responses failed quality checks.
Leadership Shift: The Siri project is now overseen by Craig Federighi and Mike Rockwell after executive changes. Apple's AI head was sidelined during the rebuild.
Feature Boost: The update will empower Siri to understand personal data and on-screen context, enabling multi-step actions and richer responses.
Apple hopes this upgrade will finally modernize Siri, but given past delays, users may remain skeptical. If development progresses smoothly, Apple might preview the new features alongside the iPhone 17 launch this fall.
Tesla Sues Ex-Employee Over Robot Secrets:

Tesla has filed a lawsuit against former engineer Zhongjie “Jay” Li, accusing him of stealing trade secrets from its Optimus humanoid robotics program. The company claims Li used confidential data to launch his own startup, Proception, which quickly developed robotic hands similar to Tesla’s designs.
Things to Know:
The Allegations: Tesla claims Li downloaded confidential information onto two personal smartphones before leaving the company. The stolen data reportedly relates to Tesla's highly secretive Optimus humanoid robot project.
Rapid Development: Li's startup Proception allegedly achieved months of development progress in record time using Tesla's stolen data. The company focused specifically on developing advanced robotic hands for commercial use.
Optimus and Its Future: Tesla’s Optimus project aims to create humanoid robots capable of performing various tasks. Despite setbacks, CEO Elon Musk remains optimistic, predicting that Optimus will become a major part of Tesla’s future.
The lawsuit was filed in California federal court seeking damages and injunctive relief. Tesla wants to prevent further use of its proprietary robotics technology by competitors. If Tesla succeeds, Proception may face severe restrictions on its operations.
