Nano Banana 2 Brings Speed and Studio Quality:

Google just dropped Nano Banana 2, and it is not messing around. This new model pulls Pro-level quality and Flash-tier speed into one package. Your AI image game just got a serious upgrade.

Things to Know:

  • What It Is: Google's Nano Banana 2 is officially Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. It merges the quality of Pro with the speed of Flash into one model.

  • What It Can Do: The model supports 4K resolution, precise text rendering, and real-time web knowledge. It keeps up to five characters and 14 objects visually consistent across a workflow.

  • Where You Can Use It: Nano Banana 2 is now the default model inside Gemini, Search, Flow, and Google Ads. Developers can also access it through the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and AI Studio.

  • The Safety Side: Every image generated carries a SynthID watermark, paired with C2PA Content Credentials. Google's SynthID verification has already been used over 20 million times since November.

Nano Banana 2 is basically Google refusing to let you choose between fast and good. It lands across 141 countries and is free to use inside Flow. If you make images for work or fun, your workflow just got a lot smoother.

Big Tech Workers Back Anthropic's Pentagon Refusal:

The Pentagon wanted unrestricted access to Anthropic's AI. Anthropic said no. Now over 360 employees from Google and OpenAI are making it clear they have Anthropic's back on this one.

Things to Know:

  • The Pentagon's Demand: The Pentagon wants full access to Claude for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. Anthropic refused, and the deadline hit on Friday.

  • The Open Letter: Over 300 Google and 60 OpenAI employees signed a letter urging their leaders to stand with Anthropic. They called the Pentagon's approach a divide-and-conquer strategy.

  • Where OpenAI and Google Stand: Sam Altman publicly said the Pentagon shouldn't be threatening AI companies. An OpenAI spokesperson also confirmed the company shares Anthropic's red lines.

The AI industry rarely agrees on anything. But when the government starts threatening to force AI companies into surveillance and autonomous weaponry, even rivals find common ground real fast. Worth watching how this plays out.

OpenAI Secures Historic $110B Funding Round:

OpenAI just pulled off a funding round so massive it makes previous records look like a rounding error. Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank all wrote very large checks. Very, very large checks.

Things to Know:

  • The Numbers: Amazon put in $50 billion, while Nvidia and SoftBank each chipped in $30 billion. The round values OpenAI at $730 billion before the money even hits.

  • Not Done Yet: The round is still open, meaning more investors can join in. OpenAI basically left the door wide open, and people are lining up.

  • The Amazon Deal: OpenAI will run its models on Amazon's Bedrock platform through a new "stateful runtime environment." The AWS compute commitment alone expanded by $100 billion.

  • The Nvidia Side: OpenAI committed to using 3GW of Nvidia's inference capacity and 2GW of training on Vera Rubin systems. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang publicly said he believes in OpenAI, and clearly put his money where his mouth is.

This is now the largest private funding round in history, topping OpenAI's own $40 billion raise from March 2025. The AI infrastructure race is no longer a sprint, it is a full-blown spending war. And OpenAI just made it very clear who is leading.
