Welcome back, AI enthusiast.

Google just launched an AI Studio app that lets you build Android apps with a voice prompt or a text description.

It builds in the background and notifies you when it is done. Could this be the end of "you need to learn to code first"?

Google AI Studio Arrives On Android Phones:

Google just changed who gets to build Android apps. With the new AI Studio mobile app, you can describe an idea and have a working app in minutes. No coding background needed, no laptop required.

Things to Know:

  • App Building Gets Chatty: Just describe what you want and the AI builds it. You can even use voice to get your app started.

  • Remix Other People's Work: Found an app idea you like? Duplicate it and personalize it for yourself. Google calls this the remix feature.

  • Build and Go: The "Active Progress" feature keeps building in the background while your phone is locked. It notifies you when your app is ready.

  • Share in a Tap: Send a link and anyone can use your app in a browser. No installs, no device restrictions, no friction at all.

Google's new AI Studio mobile app lets you build, test, and publish Android apps straight from your phone using just text or voice prompts. You can start on your phone and pick up on your desktop without losing progress. iOS support is already in the works.

ByteDance Built One Model to Rule All:

Most AI models pick a lane. They either understand visuals or create them. ByteDance said forget that and built Lance, a single 3B model that understands, generates, and edits both images and videos.

Things to Know:

  • One Model, All Tasks: Lance handles captioning, visual Q&A, text-to-image, text-to-video, and editing all at once. No switching between tools, no separate pipelines.

  • How It Stays Smart: A dual-stream architecture splits understanding and generation into separate expert pathways. They share the same context without stepping on each other's toes.

  • The Numbers Check Out: Lance scores 0.90 on GenEval and 85.11 on VBench. That puts it at the top among all unified models, beating out dedicated generation-only competitors.

  • Free to Use: Lance is open-source under Apache 2.0, with weights already available on Hugging Face. You can run it yourself if you have a 40GB VRAM GPU lying around.

Lance is open-source under Apache 2.0, weights are on Hugging Face, and you need a 40GB VRAM GPU to run it locally. ByteDance trained the whole thing on a maximum budget of 128 GPUs. For a model doing this much, that is a surprisingly modest bill.

Your Billing System Wasn't Built for This

SaaS pricing has changed. Your billing stack probably hasn't. As usage-based and hybrid models become the default, finance teams are left stitching together spreadsheets, reconciling data manually, and closing books under pressure. The cost? Revenue leakage, audit risk, and forecasts no one trusts.

Our new Buyer's Guide for Modern SaaS Billing breaks down exactly what to demand from a revenue platform built for today's complexity — from automated usage billing to AI-native collections and rev rec. Whether you're evaluating vendors or rethinking your stack, this is your framework for getting it right.

Pentagon Eyes AI for Offensive Cyber Ops:

The Pentagon wants frontier AI models for more than just paperwork. According to a leaked email and two anonymous sources, the military is exploring how to deploy and weaponize cyber-capable AI. And yes, Claude is apparently on the shortlist.

Things to Know:

  • The Awkward Part: The Pentagon officially labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk. Using Claude Mythos Preview openly would contradict that designation. Nobody seems to care.

  • What the Task Force Wants: Cyber Command and the NSA are jointly studying how frontier AI can be used on high-side systems holding the intelligence community's most sensitive data.

  • Not Just Defense: A former Cyber Command deputy commander told Politico the goal covers offensive cyber operations too. Detecting threats is one thing. Hacking adversaries is another.

Despite the Pentagon feud, Anthropic has reportedly told Politico it is open to having Mythos used in offensive operations. That is a notable stance for a company that talks a lot about AI safety.

How to Add AI Chat to Your App Fast:

Building chat from scratch is one of those things that sounds straightforward until you are actually doing it. Real-time messaging, typing indicators, read receipts, voice and video calls, moderation, notifications. Each one is its own project. Most developers spend weeks on infrastructure that has nothing to do with their actual product.

CometChat is a platform that gives you all of that out of the box, including a full-stack AI agent layer so you can add conversational AI directly inside your app without stitching together separate services.

Here's how to get started:

  • Create your account and set up a project: Sign up for free on CometChat and create a new app from the dashboard. You get an App ID, Auth Key, and Region, which are the three things you need to connect CometChat to your product. No complex configuration before you can start building.

  • Install the SDK or UI Kit for your stack: CometChat supports React, React Native, Flutter, iOS, Android, Vue, Angular, and more. Install the package for whatever you are building, drop in your credentials, and the connection is live. If you want a fully built chat interface without designing it yourself, the UI Kits give you a complete, styled messaging UI you can customize and ship as is.

  • Add real-time messaging to your app: Once connected, you can enable one-to-one chat, group conversations, and broadcast messaging with a few lines of code. Features like typing indicators, read receipts, reactions, threads, and file uploads are all included and do not require extra setup.

  • Plug in an AI agent: CometChat has a dedicated AI agent platform. You can either build an agent using natural language inside the platform, or bring your own existing AI logic and connect it through the Bring Your Own Agent option. The agent gets its own chat interface inside your app, with support for citations, memory, retry logic, and action buttons already built into the UI.

  • Set up moderation and notifications: CometChat includes a built-in moderation engine with content filtering and guardrails for both user messages and agent responses. The notification engine handles push, email, and SMS alerts with quiet hours, frequency controls, and custom templates, so you are not building any of that separately either.

If you are building a SaaS product, a marketplace, a healthcare app, or anything else that needs users to communicate with each other or with an AI, CometChat handles the infrastructure side so you can focus on the product itself.
