Google Got Divorced with Appen:

Google’s AI Training Contract Termination: Google has ended its contract with Appen, an Australian data company involved in training the chatbot ‘Bard’. The news came as a surprise to Appen.

Appen’s Revenue and Employee Wages: Appen, which had a significant portion of its revenue from Google, was recently under scrutiny for low employee wages. After a petition, wages were raised to around $14 per hour.

The Impact on Appen: The termination of the contract with Google is a significant blow to Appen. The company is now adjusting its strategic priorities.

Google’s Statement: Google’s spokesperson stated that the contract termination is part of an ongoing effort to ensure vendor tasks are as efficient as possible.

The tool evaluates potential recruits using both quantitative data such as height, weight, speed, number of goals or minutes played, and qualitative unstructured data such as the textual analysis contained in their more than 200,000 scouting reports.
