Bezos Drops $12B to Boost Physical AI:

Jeff Bezos just threw $12 billion at a startup. Prometheus, his physical AI company, now sits at a $41 billion valuation. That's a lot of zeros for a 150-person team.

Things to Know:

  • The Big Idea: Prometheus wants to build software that designs jet engines, drug compounds, and other complex physical systems without human engineers doing the heavy lifting. It calls this an "artificial general engineer."

  • Who's Backing It: The round pulled in money from Bezos personally, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and BlackRock. This is the startup's second fundraise, following a $6.2 billion round when it launched late last year.

  • Bezos on Jobs: Bezos thinks AI won't kill jobs but create "labor scarcity," meaning demand for workers will actually outpace supply. He says productivity gains will raise living standards across the board.

  • Still Under Wraps: Prometheus has 150 employees across San Francisco, London, and Zurich. The company hasn't revealed what it has actually built yet, and most of the fresh capital will go toward computing power.

Physical AI is suddenly one of the hottest bets in tech, and Prometheus just raised the stakes sky high. Whether it delivers a real "artificial general engineer" or just a very expensive idea remains to be seen.

Moonshot’s Kimi Work Reinvents Local AI:

Moonshot AI just dropped Kimi Work, a desktop app that runs AI agents directly on your computer. No cloud middleman, no sandboxed browser. Your files, your real sessions, your machine.

Things to Know:

  • What It Does: Kimi Work takes plain language goals and acts on them locally. It reads your files and drives your actual browser with existing logins intact.

  • The Swarm: The agent can spin up 300 sub-agents running in parallel on your machine. It splits tasks into parts, assigns agents, then pulls everything together seamlessly.

  • WebBridge: A browser extension lets the agent behave like a real user online. It searches, scrolls, fills forms, and pulls data using your existing cookies and logged-in sessions.

  • Built-in Scheduler: A cron engine runs jobs on daily, hourly, or custom schedules automatically. An "Ask before acting" gate means your files stay untouched unless you personally approve each change.

Most people think AI agents need a cloud server to work. Kimi Work throws that assumption out the window entirely. This is what it looks like when the agent actually lives on your turf.

Xiaomi's MiMo Code Outpaces Claude Code:

Xiaomi just released a free, open-source coding agent that goes head-to-head with Claude Code. It is called MiMo Code, and it runs straight from your terminal. The kicker? It reportedly beats Claude Code on complex multi-step tasks.

Things to Know:

  • The Memory Trick: Most coding agents forget earlier decisions once the context window fills up. MiMo Code runs a dedicated sub-agent that records progress in real time and restores context automatically.

  • The Benchmark Story: Below 200 execution steps, the two tools split roughly 50/50. But past 200 steps, MiMo Code's win rate climbed above 65%, which is where the memory architecture really starts pulling its weight.

  • How It Works: MiMo Code is built on the open-source OpenCode project and released under the MIT license. Users also get free access to MiMo-V2.5, with options to connect third-party backends like DeepSeek or Kimi.

  • The Catch: The benchmarks are self-reported by Xiaomi. Free model access routes code through Xiaomi's servers, which is a non-starter for teams with strict data or IP policies. Worth knowing before you commit.

MiMo Code is genuinely interesting, especially for developers who work on long, complex projects. Just go in with open eyes about where your code actually travels. If memory-persistent coding agents are the future, this one just planted a flag early.
