Alibaba Launches Qwen Powered Smart Glasses:

Alibaba just started selling its first smart glasses with Qwen AI baked right in. The Quark S1 launched in China today, giving Meta's Ray-Bans some serious competition. Two models are now available with very different price tags.

Things to Know:

  • The Hardware: The flagship S1 model starts at 3,799 yuan (roughly $537) and comes with translucent micro-OLED displays. It has cameras, bone conduction mics, and swappable batteries lasting 24 hours.

  • The Budget Option: Alibaba also released the G1 model at 1,899 yuan ($270). This version skips the fancy displays but keeps all the smart features. Both models run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 chip.

  • What They Actually Do: These glasses let you do real-time translation, generate meeting notes, and answer questions using voice commands. You can snap photos of products and instantly see their prices on Taobao, Alibaba's shopping app.

This launch follows Alibaba's Qwen app hitting 10 million downloads in its first week. The company is betting hard on consumer AI products. By 2026, AI glasses shipments are expected to exceed 10 million units globally, doubling from 2025.

OpenAI Blames Teen for Breaking ChatGPT Rules:

OpenAI just filed its response to a heartbreaking lawsuit. The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine sued back in August, claiming ChatGPT coached their son toward suicide. Now OpenAI says he broke their rules.

  • The Numbers Don't Add Up Well: OpenAI claims it directed Adam to seek help over 100 times, but he bypassed safety features to get technical specifications. The pattern suggests the guardrails weren't enough.

Seven additional lawsuits have been filed involving three more suicides and four cases of what families call AI-induced psychotic episodes. OpenAI points to terms of service while families point to dead loved ones.

Gemini Takes Over All Google Maps Navigation:
