Welcome back, AI enthusiast.
Nearly 150,000 tech workers have lost jobs this year, with AI cited as the cause more than any other reason.
A small circle of founders and insiders is quietly minting generational wealth at the same time. Is this the setup for a new Occupy Wall Street?

The Great AI Wealth Divide Begins:

Tech companies are raking in record profits while cutting thousands of jobs, and AI keeps getting the blame. But here's the thing: a lot of those layoffs have more to do with pandemic overhiring than any algorithm.
Things to Know:
The Numbers Are Wild: Tech layoffs hit nearly 150,000 people this year, running 44% faster than last year's pace. That's roughly 974 people losing jobs every single day.
AI or Convenient Excuse: Marc Andreessen called it the "silver bullet excuse." Companies overstaffed by 25% to 75% during COVID are now cleaning house, with AI as their PR cover story.
The Wealth Gap Problem: While workers lose jobs, AI insiders are minting billions overnight. Cerebras IPO'd at a $67B valuation, SpaceX went public at $2.1 trillion, and Anthropic and OpenAI are both eyeing $1 trillion valuations.
Zuckerberg's Timing: Meta bought a $170 million Miami mansion in March, then laid off 8,000 employees two months later. Nobody's saying it's connected, but nobody's not saying it either.
Companies like Block, Atlassian, and Cloudflare have seen their stocks jump every time they mention AI cutting headcount. The strategy works on Wall Street. Whether it holds up in the real world is a very different question.
China Got Into Anthropic's Mythos Model:

The White House gave Anthropic 90 minutes to restrict its most powerful AI models to U.S. citizens only. Anthropic said no to the restrictions and pulled the models entirely. That is a bold move that nobody saw coming.
Things to Know:
The Jailbreak Problem: Amazon researchers found a way to bypass Fable 5's guardrails and access the underlying Mythos model's cyber capabilities. Anthropic called the bypass narrow, but the White House was not convinced.
China in the Picture: Suspicions grew that a China-linked group had already used the jailbreak to access Mythos. If confirmed, that opens up very serious national security concerns around AI model distillation.
The 90-Minute Ultimatum: The Commerce Department ordered Anthropic to block all foreign access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Anthropic disabled worldwide access to both models within 90 minutes of receiving that government order.
Dario Pushes Back: CEO Dario Amodei argued the bypass was narrow and non-universal, pointing out that GPT-5.5 produces similar results. The White House and Anthropic are clearly not seeing eye to eye on what counts as a real risk.
This situation is still developing, and the full picture is not clear yet. What is clear is that AI safety and national security are now deeply tangled together. The line between a product decision and a geopolitical one just got a lot blurrier.

Z.ai Just Dropped a Monster Context Window:

Z.ai just shipped GLM-5.2, its fourth major coding model in about four months. The headline spec is a one-million-token context window, which is five times larger than what GLM-5.1 offered. That kind of jump is not something you see every day.
Things to Know:
The Context Window Upgrade: GLM-5.2 can hold an entire mid-sized codebase in one session, including source files, tests, and configs. That means no more summarization tricks or constant re-fetching mid-task.
Two Thinking Modes: The model ships with High and Max effort levels for reasoning. Max is recommended for complex, multi-step work, and you can control it with a simple command in Claude Code.
No Benchmarks at Launch: Z.ai published zero scores at release. No SWE-bench, no Code Arena, nothing. The focus was entirely on availability and the open-source roadmap, so the real numbers are still pending.
Easy to Set Up: GLM-5.2 works as a drop-in swap for Claude Code, Cline, and other tools via an Anthropic-compatible endpoint. You change the base URL and model ID, and you are done.
This is the fourth GLM-5 release since February, and Z.ai is clearly moving fast. MIT weights are coming next week, which will open things up even further for developers. Whether the performance matches the specs is something the community will stress-test pretty quickly.

How to Automate Your Sales Outreach with AI:

Most sales outreach fails not because the offer is bad, but because the follow-up never happens. You send one email, hear nothing, move on. Meanwhile, research shows most replies come after the third or fourth touchpoint. Nobody has time to track all of that manually across hundreds of prospects.
Reply.io is an AI-powered sales outreach platform that handles prospecting, email sequences, LinkedIn outreach, follow-ups, and meeting booking all from one place. You can run it yourself or hand the whole thing to Jason, their AI SDR agent, and let it work on autopilot.
Here's how to use it:
Sign up and connect your mailboxes: Create a free account and link your Gmail or Outlook inboxes. Reply.io includes unlimited mailboxes with automatic warm-up built in, so your emails land in the inbox instead of spam from day one.
Build your prospect list: Use Reply's built-in database of over one billion B2B contacts to find leads that match your target profile. You can filter by job title, company size, industry, and intent signals like recent hiring activity or tech stack changes. There is also a Chrome extension to pull contacts directly from LinkedIn.
Create a multichannel sequence: Set up an outreach sequence that combines emails, LinkedIn messages, and calls. Reply.io's AI generates the sequence for you based on your goal, and uses AI variables to personalize each message at the individual level so it does not read like a mass blast.
Let AI handle the replies: When a prospect responds, Jason AI drafts a reply, answers basic questions, and books meetings on your calendar automatically. You can run it fully on autopilot or review responses before they go out, depending on how much control you want to keep.
Track performance and optimize: Monitor open rates, reply rates, and meetings booked from the main dashboard. Reply.io shows you which steps in your sequence are working and where prospects are dropping off so you can adjust without guessing.
If you are doing any kind of outbound sales, partnership outreach, or even link building, this cuts the manual work down significantly.
